Biography

Lana Lê, aka woolypear, is a designer, illustrator and mother of two budding superheroes/bad guys/pirates.


Macavity has taught writing at the University of Montana, The New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, and the University of New Orleans. Relocating to New York after Katrina, she has led a couple of creative writing workshops here in Brooklyn. Most of the time, she can be seen exploring New York City playgrounds with her two-year-old son Gus, who is a connoisseur of sandboxes. She is at work on a novel and a book for young adults.


Oneofhismoms has an MA in Creative Writing and English Literature from NYU and an MS in Education from Hunter College. She co-produced the documentary film, "'do" about hair and identity. For the past seven years, she has been teaching the primary grades in a Brooklyn public school. She lives in Brooklyn with her lovely partner, A, and her two sweet boys.


KB has lived in Brooklyn for the past seven years though her heart remains in New England. Her days consist of working on YA and tween books 9-5 then coming home to her husband and four-year-old daughter. Favorite things include crafting with her daughter, hanging out with her husband, coffee, knitting, sewing, and running.


Kris Percival lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and two rowdy young boys. She is the author of several knitting books. Her work has been featured in O Magazine, (the Knit Knack Kit made the O list), Ladies’ Home Journal, the Wall Street Journal, House and Garden, Time Out New York, Real Simple, and the Washington Post, amongst other publications. Nowadays, she spends a lot of time doing laundry, cleaning up art project residue, and collecting crumbs from under the snack table.


Ruby is a full time nursing student and the newly single mom of 8 lovely children (4 boys and 4 girls). She home schooled her kids for 10 years and loved every second of it. Her hobbies include gardening (Does anyone have a good zucchini recipe?) and almost anything that involves the great outdoors, from backyard whiffle ball to canoeing the Allagash. She has kept a journal since she was six and still has all of them squirreled away. Although she has lived in many different states, she presently lives in the mountainous town she grew up in.


yogamom is busy being a parent, partner, friend and creative director of her design studio (but not necessarily in that order). her yoga practice and family are the glue that holds her life together and she is deeply grateful for both.


Wendy lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband, 5 year old daughter and 1 year old son. She is a marketing manager and works full-time from home, which allows her to manage the craziness of her life somewhat more effectively. Wendy has been writing most of her life and her past pubished work includes school newsletters, newspaper and magazine articles, ad campaigns, Web sites, brochures, e-mails, you name it. She loves to run barefoot in the grass with her kids, drink iced coffee and wine, read fiction, knit hats, travel distances great and small and terrorize her body with Pilates.
